OBITUARY: Sam Fiser, 72, founder of S.F. Fiser & Co., Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranch trustee

Sam Fain Fiser, age 72, of Springdale, passed away on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020. He was born on Jan. 17, 1948, in Little Rock, Ark., to Charles Fain and Thelma (Dunn) Fiser.

He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Debbie Fiser of the home; son, Scott Fiser of Springdale; daughter, Jennifer Fiser of Washington D.C.; and two brothers, Charles Danny Fiser and wife Wilma of Rogers, and Charles Fain Fiser, Jr. and wife Karen of Bryant.

Sam graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1971. He served as a Captain in the National Guard from 1971 to 1980 and as commander of the B Battery Siloam Springs, 142nd Field Artillery.

He went to work for Russell Brown & Co. in Little Rock in 1971. He became a partner in 1981 and remained a partner when the firm merged with Arthur Young & Co. in 1982.

In 1985, he opened S.F. Fiser & Co. with offices in Springdale and Batesville.

Throughout his life, Sam was involved in many organizations. Sam served two five-year terms on the Arkansas Savings and Loan Association Board. He served on the boards of directors of the Springdale Rotary, Art Center of the Ozarks, ARVEST Bank Springdale, and the Springdale Chamber of Commerce, where he was chairman for one term.

He was a trustee at Lyon College. He was currently serving as an Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranch trustee, as a director of the Schmieding Foundation, and as a director of the Independence County Shooting Sports Foundation.

He was honored with the University of Arkansas Alumni Award in 2004 and the Lifetime Achievement Award in Accounting in 2011.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at First United Methodist Church at 206 W Johnson Ave., Springdale, Ark. 72764.

A private family burial at Primrose Methodist Church Cemetery in Little Rock will occur at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranch at P.O. Box 3964, Batesville, AR 72503.
