According to the incident report, Independence County Sheriff’s Deputy Adam McGilton was dispatched to the White River Medical Center on Feb. 21 where he met a man who resides on Jamestown Loop who was being treated at the hospital for injuries after an apparent assault.

McGilton reported the victim said he had asked a friend to take him to an ex-girlfriend’s residence on Union Grove Road to get some of his personal belongings.

The victim said he had talked to his ex to get permission to pick up the items. He said his ex-girlfriend told him her child was there and could let him in. Upon arrival, the victim was gathering his things when he said the front door was kicked in by two men who both began hitting him with baseball bats, the report said.

After the victim started yelling that he was going to call the police, the two left. The report stated the victim’s left leg was broken by the blows from the bats.

The victim was able to identify the alleged attackers to McGilton, who said the two suspects could be facing second-degree battery charges.
