A number of Independence County jailers are in the middle of a training class at the West Batesville Substation.

The Substation currently serves as a training center.

Independence County Chief Deputy Sheriff Aaron Moody, said Tuesday that the class is a 56-hour jail standards training course.

The course consists of learning legalities, defensive tactics, reports, and much more.

Moody said this course will go a long way in getting the jailers certified for the job.
