The Lady Southerners made their first state tournament appearance in nine years a successful one, beating the Ozark Lady Hillbillies 48-31 in Farmington and advanced to the quarterfinals to take on undefeated Star City Friday at 4 p.m.
It was a sluggish start for both teams with the Southerners leading 10-8 after the first period and 19-13 at the half.
The Southerners warmed up in the second half and pulled away for the win.
Reese Gardner had a game-high 26 points, London Cuzzort added nine as the Southerners improved to 25-6 on the season.
