Obituary: Charles Covington

Charles Covington, 64, of Batesville, passed from this walk of life on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at his home.

He was born in Benton Harbor, Mich. on Jan. 4, 1956, to Travis and Joann (Sellers) Covington. He spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was united in marriage to Robin (Smith) Covington on June 25, 1976, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Southside.

Charles attended UCA on a band scholarship and later transferred to Lyon College in Batesville. He loved to play the guitar and sing.

Charles was a well-known businessman in the Batesville area and owned the Batesville Furniture Store for over 30 years. He was a member of the Batesville Kiwanis Club for over 40 years and was the club president. He enjoyed motorcycles and sports cars as a hobby throughout his life.

Charles was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church. During earlier years, as a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Music Leader.

Charles is survived by his wife, Robin Covington of Batesville; his mother, Jo Ann Covington, of Batesville; sons, John Covington and wife, Ashley of Batesville, Brad Covington and wife, Jessie of Batesville; brother, Roger Covington and wife, Debbie of Cushman; and three grandchildren, Victoria, Ava, and Coy Covington.

He was preceded in death by his father, Travis Covington.

Based on the Center for Disease Control guidelines and recommendations pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic, the private funeral service will be for family members only. There will be no visitation.

Burial will be in the Wyatt Cemetery in Rosie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Maple Springs Building Fund, 4225 Newport Road, Rosie, AR 72571.

Arrangements will be handled by Doty Southside Funeral Service.
