Obituary: Mae Kathryn (Brown) Dupens

Mae Kathryn (Brown) Dupens of Newport departed this life on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at the age of 67. She was born July 11, 1952, in Newport, the daughter of Dan Henry and Emma (Anders) Brown Sr.

Dupens worked as a CNA at Harris Hospital and Jackson County Home Health. She also worked for the Jackson County Health Department and as a bus driver. She enjoyed reading, taking care of others, and visiting with friends and family on the phone. She and Alvin loved their weekend drives in the Corvette. She will be remembered above all for the love she had taking care of her family and friends. She was a member of God’s House of Prayer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, L. D. Brown; and, one sister, Emma Ruth Brown.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Alvin Dupens of the home; one son, Alvin Dupens, II and wife, Kim, of North Little Rock; two daughters, Stephanie Cox and husband, Randall, of Newport and Serena Cox of Newport; four brothers, Bobby C. Brown of St. Louis, Mo., Dan H. Brown, Jr. and wife, Lynn, of Sherwood, R. J. Brown of St. Louis, Mo.; and Willie R. Brown of Newport; one sister, Shirley Williams and husband, Eddie, of Newport; two grandchildren, Addison Dupens and Ander Dupens; nine great-grandchildren, Alyric Cox, Hazel Burnett, Kalani Burnett, Aalyeah Cox, Detrick Brandon, Marmar Brandon, Zhniya Cox, KK Friar, and Nilen Friar; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a lifetime of friends.

Funeral services will be private.
