According to court information, a May 1 traffic stop in Mountain View led to the search of a suspect’s residence, which then led to the discovery of several drug-related items, and then that led to the arrest of Eugene Gurwell (pictured), 28.

The work was done by the 16th District Drug Task Force and the Mountain View Police Department with assistance from the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Department.

Gurwell has now been charged in Stone County Circuit Court with three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia with the purpose to analyze, store or conceal, and use methamphetamine.

Gurwell is also being tried under the Habitual Offender Law. Gurwell’s bond was set at $20,000. He is now in custody.

During his arrest, the court information said Gurwell told officers the items they seized had been left behind by an ex-girlfriend. He was said he was supposed to be leaving for Florida for rehabilitation. He previously told officers he was a meth user, the info said.
