“Extremely intoxicated” woman found yelling at a convenience store, arrested

Last Thursday, May 28, Batesville Police were called to a convenience store on the corner of White Drive and Main Street in north Batesville. Officer Sadie Magee was told a woman at the location was intoxicated to the point she was taking her clothes off and yelling.

According to a Batesville Police Department release, Magee arrived on scene and found the subject, identified as Whitney Leasure, 23, of Batesville.

Leasure appeared extremely intoxicated and smelling of liquor. She was also uncooperative, but Magee managed to take her into custody.

Leasure was taken to the Stone County Jail and charged with public intoxication.

At the time of Leasure’s arrest, the Independence County Detention Facility could not accommodate additional female prisoners.
