A 27-year-old man has been charged in Stone County Circuit Court with internet stalking of a child, a Class B felony.

According to the court filing, officers from the Mountain View Police Department were called to Lackey Street on complaints of a male watching children in a pool and following them around the neighborhood. That man was identified in court papers as Kedrick James.

In the court information, investigators say James followed some young teenage girls to the city park. While following the girls, James is accused of making several inappropriate remarks to them. In fact, investigators allege James texted one of the juveniles, asking for sex for $25, five cigarettes, and a blunt (a marijuana cigarette), according to the filing.

In the court information, the suspect told authorities he was just trying to keep the conversation going and that he would never act on it, knowing she was a minor. His phone was taken as evidence, and he was arrested and taken to the Stone County Jail.

James has been placed on a $50,000 bond.
