White River Now’s ‘Big Daddy’ Randy visits with new Southside Football Head Coach Brian Reardon

Brian Reardon begins his 11th year coaching football at Southside High School. The difference this year is that Reardon is now the head football coach. He had worked 10 years as an assistant and also the defensive coordinator under former head coach, Kenny Simpson.

Simpson struggled with a decision to leave Southside, but he went to Searcy, a place where he attended college, to take over the Lions football program. After hearing from a search committee, the Southside School Board voted unanimously (5-0) to hire Reardon.

Derrick Smith was named assistant head football coach. Smith is currently the strength and conditioning coach for all athletes, grades 7 through 12 and works with the offensive line.

Coach Reardon dropped by the White River Now studios this week to visit with “Big Daddy” Randy Alan about his new head coaching position and his vision for the future of Southside High School football.
