caution-tape-2020-2

An arrest warrant has been issued for Brandon Bishop, 23, of Charlotte, after being charged in Independence County Circuit Court with multiple counts, including negligent homicide. The charges stem from a vehicle accident that claimed the life of Johnathan Easley, 24, of Jonesboro on June 21. (Click here for that story.) An arrest warrant has been issued for Bishop.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause for Arrest filed Monday, Bishop was the driver of the vehicle involved in the June crash and that while observing the scene, Sgt. Bret Ward detected the strong odor of intoxicants coming from all other individuals that were in the vehicle.

The report states that Easley was a passenger and was riding in the back of the pickup and was ejected from the bed when the crash occurred. Easley was pronounced dead at the scene.

The results from a blood-alcohol test administered from Bishop returned on July 21 show Bishop’s blood alcohol content as 0.14 percent. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Bishop. He is charged with felony negligent homicide and five misdemeanors including driving while intoxicated.

Bishop’s bond was set at $25,000.
