UPDATE 8/3/2020:

The Independence County Board of Equalization 2020 schedule was announced Monday.

Residents wanting to appeal their real estate appraisal by contacting the Independence County Clerk at (870)793-8828 and scheduling an appointment by Aug. 17.

ORIGINAL 7/27/2020:

“Many residents of Independence County have received a Notice of Real Estate Value Change in the mail. This is part of the County-Wide Reappraisal that is mandated by the state to be done every five years,” shared Independence County Tax Assessor Diane Tucker’s office in a press release.

The office notes the increase that shows on the taxable value does not mean that is the amount that your taxes are increasing. It is simply the value that your taxes are based upon.

Residents that think the mandated guidelines have not been followed and a mistake has been made are urged to contact Assessor Diane Tucker or her staff at (870) 793-8832.

If a mistake has been made and is not corrected, you may appeal to the Equalization Board by filing an appeal with the county clerk by calling  (870) 793-8828.
