The problems for a Timbo man started on Aug 12 when he reported to his parole officer.

According to records from Stone County Circuit Court, the man, identified as Tony D. Avey (pictured above), 62, of Timbo, was drug tested by Parole Officer Jimmy Carter, and Avery failed for the marijuana test. The probable cause for arrest also said Avey arrived at the parole office driving a vehicle that was not registered with his parole officer or his sex offender coordinator.

Avey is a Level Three Sex Offender, currently on parole.

According to the affidavit, Avey was arrested after officers took him back to his residence where a search found multiple firearms hidden in the residence, a computer hooked to two television monitors, and video surveillance cameras and recording devices that could alert for anyone coming up the driveway.

The court record also said Chief Deputy Sheriff Dammon McGilton discovered a second residence, not registered with the parole office as required by law. It was being maintained and used by Avey.

Inside that residence, just down the county road from Avey’s first residence, officers noted they found numerous loaded firearms, as well as hunting bows and arrows.

Avey was transported back to the Stone County Jail. He was charged in circuit court with three felonies: failure to comply with registration requirements as related to registering vehicles; failure to comply with registration requirements as related to addresses where a parolee resides; and possession of firearms by a certain person.

Avey is also being charged under the Habitual Offender Law. If convicted, his sentence could be enhanced by the presiding judge.

His bond was set at $50,000.
