Mountain View Yellowjackets win third straight matchup Friday night, defeating the Cutter-Morning Star Eagles, 46-16

Friday night at Cutter-Morning Star High School, the Mountain View Yellowjackets picked up their third consecutive victory and fourth of the season as they defeated the Cutter-Morning Star Eagles by a score 46-16.

Mountain View scored a 17-yard touchdown run by Toby Philyaw on their opening possession to lead 8-0.

On the second play of the Eagles’ next possession, Philyaw would pick up a fumble and rumbled 46 yards for another score to lead 16-0.

They would add another score in the first quarter, a 14-yard touchdown run by J’Air Jackson to lead 24-0 and would cruise to a 42-16 victory.

Offensively for the Yellowjackets, C.J. Rose led the ground attack with 108 yards on nine carries and a touchdown, Elijah Carlton had nine carries for 91 yards, Philyaw 56 yards on three carries and two offensive rushing touchdowns, and Senior Hunter Smith would add 48 yards on eight carries and a touchdown.

Defensively the Yellowjackets forced three turnovers the fumble recovery for a score by Philyaw, an interception by Carlton, and a fumble recovery by Tanner Trammell.

Trampas Stubbs led with eight tackles followed by Landon Goins with six tackles as Mountain View improved to 4-1 on the season, and Cutter-Morning Star dropped to 0-5.

Mountain View will host Harding Academy next Friday night in their first conference game of the season at Yellowjacket Stadium in Mountain View.
