The Melbourne Bearkatz needed only one play to get on the scoreboard Friday night and never faced adversity as they easily took care of the Salem Greyhounds, 41-22.

The Katz got the ball first and scored on their first play from scrimmage, as Trey Wren connected with Eli Harrell on a 54-yard touchdown pass.

The Katz defense continued their dominance of the young season, forcing Salem to go three and out on each of their first two possessions.

After scoring the first 21 points of the game, Melbourne finally gave up a score, as Salem cut the deficit to 21-6 early in the second quarter, but the Bearkatz responded by scoring three more touchdowns by halftime and giving up none, invoking the sportsmanship rule by halftime.

Salem scored twice in the second half, but it was no match for the Katz, as they won by a final of 41-22.

Eli Harrell accounted for three touchdowns on the night: two receiving touchdowns and a 65-yard punt return for a score.

The Katz improve to 4-1 (1-1) and will return to the field on Oct. 16.
