Mountain View Yellowjackets suffer a loss to the Salem Greyhounds Friday night at home, 47-22

The Mountain View Yellowjackets suffered a 47-22 loss to the Salem Greyhound on Friday night at Yellowjacket Stadium in Mountain View.

Salem jumped out to an early 24-0 lead in the first eight minutes of the first quarter, scoring on an 80-yard kickoff return by Darius Brown to start the game, and two touchdown runs by Freshman Elijah Romine.

Mountain View would close the gap to 24-8 on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Elijah Carlton to Trampas Stubbs.

Salem would add two more scores in the second quarter to take a commanding 40-8 lead.

Mountain View would get a five-yard touchdown run by CJ Rose and a one-yard touchdown run by Lane Miller to close the lead to 40-22, but Mountain View could get no closer.

Carlton led the Mountain View offense with 118 yards on 18 carries, he also passed for 21 yards and had one reception for 23 yards, Rose finished with 65 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown.

Defensively for the Yellowjackets Stubbs led the way with nine tackles and one interception, Landon Goins had seven tackles and Connor Lavey added an interception.

Romine led the Greyhounds offense with 258 yards on 31 carries and four touchdowns.

Mountain View falls to 4-4 overall on the season and 0-3 in conference play, while Salem improves 5-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Next week Mountain View travels to Riverview in the final road conference game of the season.
