A defensive battle ensued at Stewart Field Friday night between Southside and Heber Springs with the Southerners falling 22-17.
Brendan Frazier scored the Southerners only offensive touchdown of the night with just a little over 4 minutes to play In the opening quarter with an 81-yard run to put Southside up 7-0.
Heber scored in the second quarter and went 8-7.
A fumble recovery in the end zone by Jamie Riggs gave the Southerners the lead at 14-8.
A Justin Vanattan interception of the Panthers in the end zone as the time ran out in the second quarter kept the score at 14-8.
Skylar Anorve kicked a 33-yard field goal to put the Southerners up 17-14 late in the third quarter.
Heber scored the game-winning touchdown with over 11 minutes to go in the game.
Southside had two chances to score and came up short.
The Southerners fell to 2-6 on the year and will play Little Rock Mills next week on the road.
