Obituary: R.D. Dorsey Wilmans, III

Robert Dorsey Wilmans, III, of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life in Jonesboro, on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, at the age of 81.

He was born Nov. 27, 1938, in Little Rock, the son of Robert Dorsey Wilmans, Jr., and Hildegarde M. Wilmans.

He married Miss Zayna Allen on July 7, 1961.

Wilmans attended both the Citadel and Mississippi State, where he focused on Agricultural Management. He retired from a farming-oriented career in 2009.

Wilmans was on the board of the First State Bank and Newport School in his younger years. He loved the Razorbacks and Cardinals, and very seldom missed a game. He especially enjoyed playing golf when he was younger.

Wilmans was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Hildegarde Graham.
He is survived by his wife, Zayna (Allen) Wilmans of Newport; one son, Robert Dorsey Wilmans, IV, and wife, Lisa, of Newport; two daughters, Zayna Wilmans Wooten and husband, Steve, of Newport, and Amanda Wilmans Lambert and husband, Bobby, of El Dorado, and Cody Wilmans; one brother, Rex M. Wilmans and wife, Katharine Sue, of Newport; eight grandchildren, Kristen, Greer, and Neali Lambert, Lauren Jones, Maddie Hopkins and husband, Zach, Trey Winemiller and wife, Chelsea, Michael Wilmans, and Natalie Wilmans; and five great-grandchildren, Jackson and Eli Tarpley, Miles and Coy Hopkins, and Calvin Brooks Winemiller.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Bobby Lambert, Steve Wooten, Trey Winemiller, Michael Wilmans, Steve Graham, Jr., and Rex Wilmans, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Jabez Jackson, Dorsey Jackson, Jimmy Wilmans, John Minor, Kenneth Bullard, and Kaneaster Hodges.
