Southside Southerner fall in the regular-season finale Friday night, 27-24

For the fourth week in a row, the Southerners game came down to the final minute of the fourth quarter.

The Southerners came up short again as Bald Knob kicked a field goal with nine seconds left to pull out a Bulldog win at Stewart field, 27-24.

Bald Knob opened the scoring with a 38 yard run in the first quarter to go up 7-0. 

Senior Bo Trucks scored one of his three touchdowns on a 10-yard run with 9:57 left in the first half to tie the score 7-7.

After a Bald Knob field goal put the Bulldogs up 10-7. Senior Skylar Anorve kicked a 42-yard field goal to tie the game at 10 at halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, both teams found their offense in the final quarter.

Bo Trucks scored on a six-yard and a two-yard-run and tacked on a two-point conversion for the Southerners.

The Southerners had one last shot with four seconds last but a last-second pass attempt by Chase Duncan fell to the turf as time expired.

The Southerners fall to 2-8 on the season and await the playoff bracket from the Arkansas Activities Association on Saturday.
