It was a night of mixed results for the Melbourne Bearkatz Thursday night as they traveled to Paragould to take on the Rams.

The Lady Bearkatz got things started, struggling to overcome a slow start offensively and cooling down the Lady Rams from three-point range.

Melbourne trailed by double digits most of the first half but came storming back in the third quarter to cut the deficit to three points.

The Lady Katz couldn’t get over the hump, falling by a final score of 45-38.

Kenley McCarn led the way for Melbourne with 15 points. Melbourne falls to 3-1 on the young campaign.

The Bearkatz were on the floor next, and after a slow first quarter, the offense found its stride.

The Katz found success inside, with physical play setting the tone and players being rewarded with easy shots.

After taking a three-point lead into the half, the Bearkatz went back to the well and used a combination of post play and timely outside shooting to pull away easily, winning by a final score of 56-38.

Layton Hennings and Jaxon Sanders led the way with 20 points each as the Katz improve to 1-2 on the season.
