Obituary: Shelba Jean (Barnes) Melton

Shelba Jean (Barnes) Melton, 82, of Batesville died Nov. 19, 2020.

She was born May 16, 1938, in Jamestown, Arkansas to Brooks and Opal (Greenfield) Barnes.

Shelba was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Batesville and retired from the International Shoe Factory. She enjoyed watching her husband umpire ball games and cross-stitching.

Survivors include two sons, Marty Melton (Lisa) of Newark and Nickey Melton (Karen) of Batesville; one daughter, Tammy Hunzeker (Rusty) of Cave City; five grandchildren, Nicole Bledsoe (Kevin), Timothy Rainey (Melissa), Ashley Melton, Whitney Melton (Justin), and Corey Melton; nine great-grandchildren, Baylea, Jerrit, Scout, Asher, Emery, Beau, Lexi, Madeline, and Mackenzie, and one great-great-grandchild, Tessa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Tommy Charles Melton; one sister, June Lusk, and a brother, Vaughn Dean Barnes.

Pallbearers are Corey Melton, Justin Melton, Kevin Bledsoe, Beau Bledsoe, Tim Rainey, and Ronnie Ruminer.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Randy Scott officiating. Burial will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church 1775 Lyon Street, Batesville, AR 72501 or Locust Grove Cemetery, P.O. Box 72, Locust Grove, AR 72550.

We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral attendance, limitations will be posted at the church. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering and social distancing will be observed.
