The Lady Pioneers and Pioneers would both pick up big victories in varsity basketball action Tuesday night over the Valley Springs Tigers.

In the girls’ game, Senior Izzy Higginbottom would do Izzy things, leading the Pioneers with 29 points on the night picking up 13 alone in the second quarter.

The Lady Pioneers would start the scoring very quickly leading over the Lady Tigers by 18 after the first as they held Valley to just four points in the opening frame.

Tacking on 19 more points in the second, the Lady Pioneers would lead at the half 41-16 and would add to that advantage in the third before closing out the 27 point victory in the fourth.

Fellow Senior Riley Freeman had eight for the Lady Pioneers and both Seniors Kaylee Clark and London Cuzzort had five points apiece.

In boys’ action, the action would be fast-paced and wild for the opening frame with the Pioneers leading 12-11 going into the second quarter.

The pace would continue with the Pioneers leading 29-21 at the half. The third quarter would become the Caden Griffin show as he knocked down three big three-pointers and John Paul Morgan would add six of his own to stretch the lead to 13 at the end of the third.

The Pioneers would outscore the Tigers by six in the fourth and would pick up the victory 66-47.

Leading the Pioneers was Freshman Caden Griffin with 22, Senior John Paul Morgan with 17, and Senior Gunnar Shell with 12.

The Pioneers are back in action Friday night as they host the Wynne Yellowjackets and the Lady Pioneers will take the week off before rejoining the boys at Forrest City next Tuesday.
