Ruby Beatrice Smart, 94, of Jacksonport departed this life Monday, Dec. 14, 2020. She was born June 12, 1926, to William Uless Durham and Bertha (Mayhue) Durham.
Smart was a member of the Jacksonport Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, reading her bible, pictures of her family, and taking care of grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 76 years, J.D. Smart; daughter, Cora Lou Epperson; grandchild, Keith Epperson; great-grandchild, Quinn Epperson; sister, Bitty Sue Cooper; brothers, James Durham, W.D. Durham, Eugene Durham and Bob Durham.
She is survived by her sons, William Smart (Pat) of Strawberry and J.W. Smart (Glenna) of Tuckerman; daughters, Billie Barber (Donald) of Union, Kentucky, and Betty Gardner (Dale) of Newport; brother, Frank Durham of Newport; sister, Betty Pearce of Newport; grandchildren, Tammy Wingate (Marty) of Heber Springs, Nannette Cooper (Freddy) of Newport, William Smart Jr. (Teri) West Plains, MO, Becky Hamilton of Searcy, Julie Epperson of Newport, Jeremy Walker (Lesley) of Newport, Jason Walker (Jan) of Newport, Jordan Walker (Stephanie) of Poplar Bluff, MO, Alan Barber of Union Kentucky, David Barber (Kaitlin) of Florence, Kentucky, 18 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Dillinger Funeral Home.
Visitation will be in the chapel from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Interment will be at Coffeyville Cemetery.
