Former Arkansas College men’s basketball and tennis player Finis William “Bill” Osier passed away on Dec. 18.

Osier played for the men’s basketball and tennis teams at Arkansas College in the late 1960s, until his graduation in 1969.

“The athletic department at Lyon College is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former basketball player Bill Osier,” said Director of Athletics Kevin Jenkins. “I was able to watch his teams play and recruit some of his players during my time as the basketball coach. He produced quality young men and touched many lives once he left Lyon College to begin his coaching career. Please keep the Osier family in your prayers.”

Following his playing career, Osier went on to coach several sports at the junior high and high school level. In 1974, Osier began teaching and coaching at nearby Newport Special School District until his retirement in 1998.
