Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens confirmed to White River Now Tuesday morning that a fatal pedestrian/vehicle accident occurred Monday around 8:15 p.m. in the 6200 block of North St. Louis Street between Batesville and Cave City.
The sheriff said the vehicle left the scene, and the Arkansas State Police is handling the investigation.
Information is limited at this time, including the description of the vehicle, but Stephens did add the vehicle might have headlight damage.
