Southside Southerners roll to tenth straight victory Monday night

The state’s number-four ranked team in Class 4A the Southside Southerners led throughout Monday night against the Trumann Wildcats racking up their tenth win of the season and remain undefeated.

Playing their first game since before the Christmas break the Southerners came out on fire in the first quarter racking up 23 points and taking an early eight-point lead, behind Trevor Longo’s nine points.

Trumann managed to trim one point off the lead before halftime cutting the lead to 38-31 at the half.

Blayne Bufford and Devan Halford handled the Trumann full-court press and the Southerners added four more to the lead in the third quarter before hitting free throws down the stretch to get the win 67-54 to move to 10-0 on the season, 4-0 in conference play.

Devan Halford led all scorers with 28 points, Blayne Bufford had 15 points, Trevor Longo chipped in 13 points, Jonathan Shane had eight points and Jake Painter finished with three points.
