Over 1,100 test positive for the coronavirus amongst state nursing home residents and employees in the last two weeks

The Arkansas Health Department reports that 664 nursing home residents and 514 staff members have tested positive for the coronavirus in the past 14 days.

The department follows 305 facilities in the state and keeps statistics on each.

Locally, the state health department reports that two nursing homes had small outbreaks in the past 14 days.

In Searcy, the Crossing at Riverside Health & Rehabilitation has had 30 residents test positive in the past 14 days with the last positive result reported on Jan. 15, 2021. Nine staff members in that facility also tested positive, with the last positive result reported on Jan. 13, 2021.

Wood-Lawn Heights in Batesville has had 11 residents test positive in the last 14 days with the last positive test on Jan. 10, 2021. There have also been 12 staff members to test positive during the last two weeks, the last staff positive test on Jan. 13, 2021.

The Arkansas Health Department reports that since the pandemic began 11,210 nursing home residents and 8,887 staff members in the state have tested positive for the virus.

The department reports 1,735 nursing home residents and 11 staff members have died as a result of the virus.
