Alvin Arter, 81 of Cave City (formerly of Newport) passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021.
He was born Dec. 1, 1939, in Newport, Arkansas to Johnny and Annie Riley Arter.
He was a retired farmer and mechanic and of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary Jane Arter; one son, Timmy Reed; two daughters, Sandra Kay Callihan and Lillian Ellis and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include one brother, Dale Arter of Newport; six sons, Alvin Arter (Ann) of Swifton, Johnny Arter (Cindy) of Newark, Chester Arter of Cave City, Jeffery Arter of Oklahoma, Michael Reed and Jerry Reed both of Newport; two daughters, Jennifer Long (Chad) of Cave City and Jerrie Lawhon of Jacksonville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City.
