More information has been released in the death of a Lyon College student found over the weekend on campus.

According to Batesville Police Chief Alan Cockrill, around 12:38 p.m. Saturday, the department was dispatched to the Lyon College campus in response to an unresponsive student in a dorm room.

Officers and EMS arrived and the victim, James Gilfedder, 19, of Yucaipa, Calif., was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. Gilfedder was on the 2021 roster for the Lyon College Scots baseball team, according to the Lyon College athletics page.

During the course of the investigation, multiple interviews were conducted with student-athletes of Lyon College, and it was determined that the victim had earlier attended a party off-campus at a residence on Boles Street, Chief Cockrill said.

The Boles Street residence, according to authorities, is owned by Huffmania Ventures LLC. Further investigation revealed that Huffmania Ventures LLC is partially owned by a baseball coach at Lyon College and all the renters are baseball players at Lyon College.

The investigation is ongoing and at this time three persons of interest have been developed, Cockrill told White River Now.

Investigators are waiting on autopsy results, and at that time, the evidence will be submitted to the prosecutor for charges.
