White River Now’s Gary Bridgman spoke with Batesville High School Principal Stacey Lindsey on the latest Pioneer Update report and shared issues the school has faced due to the winter weather including burst water pipes and postponement of the ACT.

“We have decided to back it [the ACT] up into March…,” Lindsey said. “A lot of our sports programs had to be canceled in the last week and a half. Coming up shortly is going to be our conference tournament; we start that on Monday.

“We also had a water leak. We had some pipes to burst up at the high school and had about three inches of water in our new wing. Our crews have been working diligently to get that cleaned up and ready for students on Monday,” Lindsey said.

Lindsey also noted that two tents — one at the junior high, one at the high school — that teachers sometimes utilized to teach outside during the COVID crisis were destroyed.

School is anticipated to be back in session on Monday.
