Mountain View Yellowjackets finish their season Wednesday night at Cave City, 51-40

The Mountain View Yellowjackets season came to an end Wednesday night with a 51-40 loss to the Cave City Cavemen in the second round of the Class 3A-2 District Tournament.

The game was close early with the score tied 7-7 after the first quarter and Cave City holding a slim one-point lead at halftime 25-24.

The difference in the game was the third quarter as Cave City outscored Mountain View 14-7 to take an eight-point lead to the final quarter, that gap proved to be too wide as Mountain View closed it to two, but could not get any closer with Cave City hitting 10 of 15 free throws in the final quarter to win 51-40.

Mountain View was led by Senior Brayden Scribner who had 14 points, Senior Kaedn Henderson added nine points, Beck Morrow had seven points, Elijah Carlton earned six points and Bryce Baird had four points and six rebounds.

Cave City was led by Luke Walling, Maddox Moreland, and Ethan Ball who each scored 11 points, Britton Smith added eight points, and Chase Arnold had 6 points.

Cave City is seeded number five and advances to play at Pangburn, the number-four seed on Thursday in the Quarterfinal round, while Mountain View’s season comes to an end with a record of 6-14.
