The Izard County Sheriff’s Department reports an Oxford man has been arrested on a charge involving sexual indecency with a minor.

According to a release from Sheriff Jack Yancey, Izard County Sheriff’s Deputies took a report from three juvenile males on March 3, 2021, who alleged Brandon Gilbert (pictured), age 40 of Oxford, had contacted them via social media and cell phone texts, where Gilbert offered alcoholic beverages and solicited sexual acts from the juveniles.

After contacting the juveniles’ parents and subsequently gaining consent from their parents to use a juvenile’s phone, an investigator acting as a 14-year-old spoke via cell phone with Gilbert, who was continually calling the juvenile’s phone attempting to regain contact with them, the release said.

During a phone conversation, Gilbert allegedly provided a location to meet, continued to offer alcoholic beverages, and continued to solicit sexual acts after being informed no less than twice by the investigator, who was acting as a juvenile, that he was 14 years old, the sheriff department’s release said.

After receiving the suspect’s location, deputies drove to the location where Gilbert wanted to meet and found him waiting.

Gilbert was arrested and charged in the Izard County Circuit Court with sexual indecency with a minor, a Class D felony. His bond was set at $10,000 professional.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
