Regular business reported for this week’s ICQC meet

The Independence County Quorum Court met to conduct regular business for April on Monday night, April 12, at the Jess B. Carpenter Building on Main Street in Batesville.

The court heard regular reports from Sheriff Shawn Stevens, Treasurer Bob Treadway, and the County Road Report from County Judge Robert Griffin.

On behalf of County Assessor Diane Tucker, Judge Griffin and Treasurer Treadway brought forth a need to purchase two vehicles used for property appraisal in the county. Motions were made and approved to used available unappropriated funds to purchase vehicles to replace the two older vehicles.

Two ordinances and one resolution were approved during the meet, as mentioned on the agenda.

Ordinance 2021-11 amended an ordinance from the previous year to establish a new fund in the budget entitled “Wiley’s Road Home Pet Rescue Fund.” Funds will be derived from a state grant.

Ordinance 2021-12 amended an ordinance from the previous year to appropriate funds into the County Road Fund to purchase land and a building adjacent to the current county yard. The funds are derived from additional, unanticipated revenues.

Resolution 2021-05 is a resolution declaring the approval of the transfer of ownership of a historic bridge.

The Independence County Quorum Court will meet again on May 10 for their next regular business meeting.
