Man stopped by USDA Forest Service officer taken to jail on drug charges

A Pleasant Grove, Ark. man stopped for a traffic violation on State Highway 66 by a U.S. Forest Service officer was taken to jail over felony drug charges.

On May 16, court information says USDA Forest Service Officer James Necessary observed a truck without an operational license plate light traveling west on Highway 66 at the Highway 5 intersection.

After the officer stopped the vehicle, the arrest affidavit said Necessary identified the driver of the truck as Chad A. Dayberry, 29. During the course of the stop, Necessary said he was given permission to search the vehicle, and in the course of the search, he reported locating a syringe with a clear liquid inside that later tested positive as methamphetamine, according to the affidavit.

A Mountain View Police officer was dispatched to take Dayberry and the evidence to the Stone County Jail.

Dayberry is charged with two felonies: possession of a controlled substance, namely meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $10,000.
