Michael Lee Barnes, age 65 of Cave City, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 21, 2021, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Michael was born and raised through his teen years in California. He graduated Pleasant Hill High in 1973 and was a four-year varsity letterman in track and field and two-time varsity tailback.

At the age of 26, he moved to Arkansas where he met the love of his life, Loretta. After being together for a year, they wed on November 17th, 1984, married for 36 and a half years and had two children, Christopher and Nicole. Michael loved his family dearly and the Lord. He was a member of Ring’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized by faith in 1999. If you knew him, you knew his track record and his championships as an athlete. While having many accomplishments, Michael went undefeated in the 100-yard dash running a 9.9 time. That will put into perspective what a warrior he was all the way until the end. He fought a long hard battle for almost nine years, and we are blessed knowing that now he is at peace and out of pain.

Michael was the hardest worker there was, and after 40 years in the automotive industry, he was able to retire to concentrate on his health in 2019. If you ever bought a car from him, you know how much we are going to miss his roughed sense of humor and friendly laugh.

Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents, Birdie and Lester Barnes and Sherman and Willie Fulbright.

Michael is survived by his wife, Loretta Barnes; son, Christopher Barnes; daughter and son in law, Nicole and Alex Tinnesz; grandsons, Ian and Eli Barnes; brother and sister in law, and nephew, Mitchell, Angela, and Colton Barnes; his parents, Lee and Maudie Barnes; aunt, Cathy Barnes and many more loved ones.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 27, 2021, from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home in Cave City with graveside services directly following at 2:00 p.m. at the Parsley Cemetery at Cave City with Bro. Ron Canard officiating.  Arrangements are by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Barnes, Alex Tinnesz, Colton Barnes, Monte Harrelson, Ben Light, and Dale Conner.
