Juanita Faye (Shipman) Kendrick, 77, of Mountain View, Arkansas, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

Juanita was born Dec. 20, 1943, in Fifty-Six, Arkansas, to the late Verlin and Dovie Lea (Pitts) Shipman.

Growing up, Juanita enjoyed spending time with family and friends in her parents’ home where many memories were created. She enjoyed playing basketball and graduated from Mountain View High School in 1962. In 1964, she married Gene Kendrick and they spent the next several years in California. It was during this time that their son Kenny was born, whom she considered one of her greatest blessings.

After returning to Arkansas, Gene and Juanita built a home in Fifty-Six where they resided together for the next 40 years. Juanita worked in various places in the community throughout her life, including being a teacher’s aide, working at the Blanchard Caverns gift shop, a daycare worker, and working in food service at the Stone County Medical Center. She truly loved working with and being around people. Juanita was a member of Fifty-Six Missionary Baptist Church where she attended regularly until her health declined.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Maxine Treat; and brothers, Leon and Don Shipman.

She is survived by her son Kenny Kendrick and wife Stephanie of Mountain View; two grandsons, Peyton and Kollin Kendrick; one brother, Ernest Shipman, and wife, Shirley, of Mountain View; sister-in-law, Carolyn Shipman, also of Mountain View; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Fifty-Six Missionary Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM. Brother Robb Arnold will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Peyton Kendrick, Kollin Kendrick, Brad Shipman, Rick Treat, Josh Morehead, Brian Zini, Don Thomas, and Junior Lee Deatherage. Interment will be in the Fifty-Six Cemetery.
