Obituary: Opal Pauline Watkins Brown

Opal Pauline Watkins Brown age 98 was born Oct. 14, 1922, in Maxville, just north of Cave City, Arkansas to Marion Bowden Watkins and Mary Jane Russell Watkins.  A resident of Cave City Nursing Home, she entered heaven on July 7, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Ottie Brown; son Jim Brown; her parents; sisters Bertha (Grover) Ring, Lucille (Fred) Johnson, Veda (Lee) Lowe, Clois (Everett) Smith; and grandson Caleb Evan Brown.

She is survived by her children Nancy (Neil) Smith of Pine Bluff, Ben (Susan) Brown of Mountain View, Doug (Patti) Brown of Siloam Springs, and daughter-in-law Patricia Brown of Theodore, AL;  nine grandchildren – Mark (Kim) Smith, Melissa (Cederic) Etheridge, Jim (Shaunna) Brown Jr., Sam (Ginger) Brown, David Brown, Amanda (David) Coupe, Leah Brown, Sandi (Nathan) Basche, and Michael Brown; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Buster Brown, Bill Brown; sisters-in-law Eunice King McCloud, and Betty (John) Carter; several nephews and nieces and many friends.

She was a faithful pastor’s wife and was always an integral part of God’s work in the churches her husband pastored in Missouri, Arkansas, and Georgia.  She was a member of Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church in Mountain View, Arkansas.

Visitation will be Friday, July 9, 2021, from 6:00 until 8:00 at First Baptist Church in Cave City.  Funeral services will be Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Cave City with Doug Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Maxville Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers will be Mark Smith, Jim Brown, Jr., Sam Brown, David Brown, Michael Brown, David Coupe, and Cederic Etheridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Mission Fund of First Baptist Church, Cave City, AR, or to the Mission Fund of your church.
