Obituary: Charles Willie Landrum

Charles Willie Landrum, 73, of Newport departed this life Friday, July 16, 2021.  He was born on Jan. 12, 1948, to Willie and Gurtha (Reed) Landrum.

Landrum was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church.  He was well known throughout the community through his work at Harris Hospital where Charles greeted everyone with a contagious smile.  He was loved by those he met there and whose hearts he touched throughout the years.  He was employed at Harris Hospital for 31 years.   He enjoyed spending time outdoors and he could often be found fishing.  Playing pool was another one of his favorite pastimes.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Velma Jean White and Charlene Dicus.

He is survived by his sons, Kevin Landrum (Keyanne) of Bentonville, Charles William Landrum of Newport; daughter, Ashley Nicole Landrum of Diaz; brother, Jerry Wayne Landrum (Sherry) of Newport; sister, Doris Landrum of Forrest City; the Love of his Life, Patsy Alcorn of Diaz; grandchildren, Tre-Zhan Wren, Janie Bumpers-Thomas, A-Merris Bumpers-Thomas, Jeremiah Landrum, Kevin Landrum Jr., Ja-mya Landrum.

Service will be Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Dillinger Funeral Home.  Visitation will be Friday, July 23, 2021, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the chapel.  Interment will be at Quiet Cemetery in Augusta.
