
Joseph G. Pilot Jr., 76 of Charlotte passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021. He was born April 23, 1945, in Newark, New Jersey to Joseph G. Pilot Sr. and Ruth Agnes Yarulli Pilot. He was a graduate of Arkansas College (now Lyon College) and holds a Master’s Degree in Microbiology. He was a retired supervisor of medical technology for ARCare in Augusta, was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran, and was of the Catholic faith. He loved deer hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two wives, Janice Kay (Sartin) Pilot and Betty Lou Gillmore Pilot, and his faithful friend, Yogi.
Survivors include daughters, Heather Butler (Eric) of Locust Grove and Holly Green (Wayne) of Batesville; stepson, Dwight Ford of Charlotte; stepdaughter, Laura Beth Ford Sandy (Steve) of Batesville; brother, Stephen Pilot (Virginia Dalton) of Bethesda; sister, Virginia Hansen of Edison, New Jersey; grandchildren, Hannah Carr (Hunter), Houston Butler, Mica Green, and Karis Ford; great-granddaughter, Hallie Carr; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held Monday, Aug. 9, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Curt Howard officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until service time.
Honorary pallbearers are Eric Butler, Wayne Green, Houston Butler, Dwight Ford, Stephen Pilot, Steve Sandy, and Hunter Carr.
