Obituary: Patricia Ruth Lumpkin

Patricia Ruth Lumpkin, 89 of  Rosie died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, at her home.  Patricia was born in Wright, Arkansas on Nov. 27, 1931, to Davis and Berthal Pearl Griffin.

She was a homemaker, loving wife to Edward Alton Lumpkin, and mother of three children.  Together she and her husband, Alton, founded New Start America, a non-profit prison ministry, and purchased the Old Marvin Hotel in Batesville for use in the ministry in the early 1980s.  Patricia was a member of the First Assembly of God in Batesville since 1959 and a member of the Auxiliary of Gideons International.  Her life was centered around God and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Alton Lumpkin; a son, Stephen Wade Lumpkin; two brothers, Jerry and Bill Griffin and one sister, Louise Griffin Reynolds.

Survivors include her two children, daughter, Lacrecia Curtis and husband, Tommy of Lafayette, Louisiana; son, Eddie Lumpkin and wife Karen of Rosie; one-half brother, Gary Griffin of Hurst, Texas; two half-sisters, Sandra Halcomb and Kathy Gattis both of North Little Rock; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Kyle Jett (Allison) of Monroe, Louisiana, Hollie Jett Bayles (Shaun) of Springdale, Kassie Lumpkin Foree (Lennie), Tressa Lumpkin Williams (John), Tyler Lumpkin (Shamsie),  Andrew Scott (Becky) all of Batesville and Aaron Alton Lumpkin (Emily) of Jonesboro; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and loved ones.  She is much loved and affectionately known as “Mow’ and will be missed by all.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Ed Huie of Fort Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in the Egner Cemetery in Salado with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Jett, Trevor Jett, Andrew Scott, Tyler Lumpkin, Lennie Foree, and Shaun Bayles.

Honorary pallbearers are John Williams, Conner Foree, and Talen Foree.
