The Batesville Advertising and Promotions Commission met Tuesday and presented checks to representatives of the Cave City Watermelon Festival and the Batesville Motor Speedway. This year’s Watermelon Festival resulted in 162 overnight stays with area hotels and lodging establishments, thirty-seven more stays than the previous festival.

Batesville Motor Speedway’s hosting of the 29th Annual Comp Cams Topless 100 resulted in 125 overnight stays and the 26th Annual Schoenfield Headers Mid-America Street Stock Championship resulted in 209 stays.

Even through the COVID-19 pandemic, tourism has remained a major contributor to the area’s economic picture.

The Advertising and Promotions Commission event grants are made available with the purpose of promoting tourism and increasing hotel stays in the area. Event planners interested in applying for these grants can find the application by clicking here or may contact the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce at (870) 793-2378.
