Mountain View dominates in victory over Hector, 39-7

The Mountain View Yellowjackets used a strong running game Friday night to dominate the Hector Wildcats in a 39-7 road victory.

The Yellowjackets offense rushed for 390 yards and the ‘Jackets defense held the Wildcats offense to 138 total yards for the game.

Mountain View scored on their opening possession when Senior CJ Rose scored on a three-yard touchdown run.  The two-point conversion was good on a run by Elijah Carlton to give Mountain View an early 8-0 lead.
After a Hector punt, Carlton would score three plays later on a 62-yard touchdown run to give the Yellowjackets a 14-0 lead.
Late in the first quarter, Carlton would give Mountain View a 22-0 lead when he returned a punt 72 yards for a touchdown.
The Yellowjackets defense forced Hector to three and out on each of the Wildcats’ first four possessions.
Mountain View would add a final touchdown in the first half when Carlton continued Mountain View’s big-play attack scoring on a 43-yard touchdown run to give the Yellowjackets a 28-0 halftime lead.
The second half started as Mountain View forced a turnover when Drew Shelton intercepted  Hector’s Quarterback Jackson Taylor’s pass giving the Yellowjackets good field possession.
After a Mountain View turnover and Hector punt, Carlton scored on a 55-yard touchdown run.  A successful two-point conversion run by Trampas Stubbs gave the Yellowjackets a 36-0 lead with 5:00 to go in the third quarter.
Mountain View wrapped up their scoring with 5:17 to go in the game when Senior Randal Rorie connected on a 19-yard field goal giving Mountain View a 39-0 lead.
Hector would add a late touchdown as Mountain View improves to 2-1 on the season and Hector drops to 1-1.
Carlton led Mountain View’s rushing attack with 201 yards on nine carries with three rushing touchdowns.  He also added the 72-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Sophomore Levi Rorie added 79 yards rushing on 11 carries, Rose had 61 yards on 13 carries with one touchdown.
Defensively for the Yellowjackets Landon Goins led with eight tackles and one sack, and Jace Tinkle added six tackles.
Mountain View returns home next week when they host the Quitman Bulldogs.
