It went racing through Stone and Independence Counties before authorities chased down the 2019 Ford F-350 super duty crew cab truck north of Cave City in Sharp County.

And when officers finished writing the driver’s citations, they added up to 19 misdemeanor charges.

Marty J. Thorne (pictured below), 51, of Chula, Mo., was clocked speeding through Stone County on Saturday, Oct. 2, but authorities were unable to stop him, according to the incident report. In Desha, an Independence County Sheriff’s deputy clocked Thorne’s truck going 80 mph in a 40 mph zone.

According to the report, the vehicle then went down Ramsey Mountain and through Batesville on St. Louis Street, swerving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed.

Then the pursuit was on to and through Cave City at speeds between 60 and 80 mph.

North of Cave City at Mill Creek Bridge, Sharp County authorities set up spike strips and the speeding truck ran over them. When the big truck attempted to turn right into a driveway, it ran into a ditch and came to a rest in the yard of a residence, the report said.

Independence County deputies who had been in pursuit of Thorne took him into custody and to the Independence Detention Facility.

Thorne now faces 19 misdemeanor charges including fleeing, reckless driving, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, driving on a suspended license, public intoxication – drugs, and failure to maintain control of a vehicle.
