Erma Vernell Crotts of Grubbs, Arkansas departed this life on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the age of 88. She was born April 23, 1933, in Swifton, the daughter of Floyd Franklin and Lena Mae Brantley.
Miss Erma Vernell Brantley married Mr. William Elvis Crotts on December 1, 1951, and they enjoyed sixty-two years together.
Mrs. Crotts retired from Walmart after 20 years of service. She was a member of Ballew’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Gardening was her passion, and she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Crotts was preceded in death by her husband, William Elvis Crotts, Sr.; three brothers, Leroy, Harold, and Boyce Brantley; one sister, Irene Jones; and her parents.
She is survived by two sons, William Elvis Crotts, Jr., and wife, Barbara of Southside, and Brian Crotts and wife, Nanette of Fairfield Bay; one daughter, Becky Cloud of Grubbs; nine grandchildren, William Elvis Crotts, III, and his daughter, Kylee, Shad Crotts and wife, Marla, and their sons Liam and Nevin; Marissa Martin and husband, Jason and son, Fisher, and daughter, Saylor; Vanessa Tharp, and husband, Brayden, and son, Camden and daughter, Carrigan, Chris Crotts, and wife, Sunny, and sons, Hayden and Kellan; Carina Wingate, and husband, Tim, and daughter, Ella and son, Jack, Micah Sanning and daughter, Evelyn, Rachel Cloud and son, Cole and daughter, Kourtley, Kari Slayton and husband, Micheal, and son, Brantley; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson. and husband, Hayden, and Will Wyatt.
Also, surviving are two sisters, Eugenia Schnell of Dallas, and Shirley Fortenberry, and husband, Chuck, of Jonesboro.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday, November 6, 12:30 p.m. until service time. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Ballew’s Chapel Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Chris Crotts, Trey Crotts, Shad Crotts, Micheal Slayton, Jason Martin, and Brayden Tharp. Doug Crotts will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
