Southerners win sixth straight, roll into playoffs

Southside traveled to Bald Knob Friday night to take on the Bulldogs and nabbed their first win in Bald Knob in school history in dominating fashion, winning 37-8, allowing Bald Knob to score only on the games final possession.

Bald Knob failed to score on the opening possession and the Southerners took over on their own 15 yard and drove 85 yards, capped by a 24 yard run by Colby Harris to take a 7-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The second quarter saw Southside put 2 scores on the board before halftime, one a 45 yard run by Landen Haas and 31-yard Touchdown pass from Landen Haas to Blayne Warder, and lead at the break 21-0.
The Southerners came out to start the 3rd quarter with more of the same, a 53-yard drive finished by a 3 yard run by Landen Haas to run the score to 29-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Kaleb West put the Southerners up 37-0 with a 1-yard touchdown run and with the clock running out late in the 4th Bald Knob scored on a 83-yard run to make the final score 37-8.
The Southerners rushed for 288 yards on the night, led by Haas with 114, Jacob Dunne had 70 yards, and Seth Case added 50 yards.
Southside ends the regular season on a six-game winning streak and the 2-4As number 2 seed heading in to the playoffs. They will host Star City Friday night in Southside.
