UPDATE, Nov. 9, 2021, 7:35 a.m.: This story has been updated to reflect the state funding source for the school buses.
The Batesville School District (BSD) transportation department is looking forward to the delivery of some new school buses.
BSD Director of Transportation Robbie Cox told White River Now’s Gary Bridgman the district has 13 new buses on order with two buses scheduled to arrive any time.
Cox said school bus manufacturers have been grappling with the same computer chip supply issues the auto industry has been facing since the pandemic started.
He said the new air-conditioned buses will have the very latest safety features.
Funding for the buses comes from the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ARP ESSER) funds. States will use the funds to support and provide interventions that address student learning loss, summer enrichment programs, and comprehensive afterschool programs.
