The Bank of Cave City has donated $11,500 to sponsor a new scoreboard for the Lyon College soccer field.

In a release from the college, Bank of Cave City President John Beller said the bank is always looking for opportunities to partner with neighbors and empower them.

“Making this kind of contribution to Lyon College is a great way to live that out,” he said.

Vice President for Advancement David Hutchison said the college’s relationship with the Cave City community has been a “rich and integral part of our story at Lyon.”

“We are excited that our friends at Bank of Cave City are playing such a strong part in supporting and carrying forward that connection,” Hutchison said.

“Small colleges like Lyon College rely on a broad coalition of community partners, and we are proud to count Bank of Cave City among them.”

Head Men’s Soccer Coach David Groves said he cannot express enough gratitude to Beller and the Bank of Cave City for helping the program with this project.

“This community, time and time again, has displayed generosity and kindness in ways I have rarely experienced,” Groves said. “I know the boys, the staff, and alumni are truly grateful for this necessary upgrade to the professionalism of Huser Field.”

The Bank of Cave City loves to support local education, Beller said, and believes athletic training and competition can be a valuable part of a well-rounded educational experience.

“We’re proud to be part of the tradition and growth of Scots athletics,” he said. “We hope the new scoreboard helps the soccer programs enhance the atmosphere and experience on game days.”

“The soccer field is such a cool place to watch and enjoy a game, and we hope the new scoreboard adds a sharp and appealing element to that,” Beller said.
