A man who has spent his entire life in Pleasant Plains has announced his plans to be a candidate for State Representative in District 40.

Stacey Caplener, 59, has worked for the Arkansas Department of Transportation for over 35 years.

In an email announcing his candidacy, Caplener said in the first half of his time with the department, he worked construction inspection. Then he served in the area of bridge repair maintenance, and now he is the equipment maintenance supervisor for District 5 with headquarters in Batesville.

Caplener said he has been involved with the local fire department for over 40 years, serving the last 30 years as Fire Chief.

Caplener said he is a candidate for State Representative in order to “take care of our senior citizens, keep small schools operating, and serve the public safety spectrum which includes police, fire, EMS, and dispatching.”
