Independence County Sheriff’s Deputy dies in one-vehicle accident

An Independence County Sheriff’s Deputy was killed in the line of duty early Thursday morning after a one-vehicle accident on State Highway 14.

According to the Independence County Sheriffs Department, Deputy Frank Ramirez was involved in the accident and succumbed to his injuries.

The Arkansas State Police Preliminary Fatality Report said Ramirez was driving his 2018 Dodge Charger east on Highway 14 when he lost control of the vehicle while traversing a left curve. The accident occurred around 12:50 a.m.

The report noted the weather and road conditions were rainy and wet.

The sheriff’s department said in a post on their Facebook page, “This is a time of tremendous grief for our agency, his family, and our communities.”

Ramirez, 29, was married with two young children.
