Human skeletal remains found by a hunter in rural Jackson County have been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for identification.

Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas said his office received a call Friday morning regarding the discovery, according to a press release.

Lucas said his deputies along with White County Sheriff’s deputies went to where the skeletal remains were discovered — near the Olyphant community in the southern part of Jackson County.

The deputies conducted searches for possible evidence or information that could assist in the identification of the remains.
